‘Her Presence in Colours’

‘Her Presence in Colours’ is a series of International Women’s art conferences and exhibitions. The first was held in 1993 in Beijing, China at the Central Academy of Fine Art with the second (1995)and third (1996)in the Penang State Art Gallery, Malaysia and the fourth (1999) in the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, Bangkok, Thailand. This is the first to be held in Britain and gives the opportunity to discuss contemporary issues and to view the work of 60 women artists from Australia, Britain (notably the Burngreave Area of Sheffield), China,  Iceland, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States of America in the ‘Clock Tower Gallery’ in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield. We are also pleased to welcome a supporting exhibition of Sheffield Girls work to be held in the adjoining ‘Clock Tower Gallery’ dining room in conjunction with the Sheffield Children’s Festival.

‘Her Presence in Colours V’ is hosted by the ‘International Women Artists Association-Great Britain in collaboration with ‘Green City Action’ of Burngreave, Sheffield and tackles the issue of

‘International Women’s Art Towards a Sustainable Environment’. A Sustainable Environment includes that which is ecologically sound, economically viable, fair(equitable) and humane meeting it’s own needs for growth and maintenance. Her Presence in Colours Exhibitions are of  the work of professional and amateur women artists who have interpreted the theme in diverse and colourful ways each uniquely sourced from the individual artists cultural experience. This holistic theme will be discussed in the conference and we are very pleased to have such an array of diverse but connected speakers from Australia, Britain and Malaysia speaking on the connections between women, art, the environment and health. The conference has programmed time to view the exhibition and time for discussion as well as networking with international guests and an opportunity to talk to the artists from the eight countries.
