Burngreave Language Support Agency takes off

Burngreave Language Support Agency was launched at a highly successful conference attended by over 60 people. Burngreave people have said that language support is crucial to residents being able to access Education and Health services.

Language support is integral to the regeneration of Burngreave. The Burngreave language support agency is a developing partnership of community members, voluntary and statutory agencies who are currently developing as a consortium to provide language support.

Language support means interpreters and translators for schools and health services.

The group meets once a month and with hard work, enthusiasm and commitment it will:
• Develop the consortium to manage and steer the project from April onwards
• Develop the feasibility study
• Employ community researchers and a project consultant to go out and talk to local people and language support providers about what their language support needs are.

The next meeting is:
Thursday 14 February 10am, 12pm at Cornerstone building, Burngreave Road
