SMR Direct Accident Claims
Opening in January of this year, SMR Accident Claims Advisers & Associated partners Akthar Khan and Sajid Rasul, explain to me the service they are offering to the people of both Burngreave and Firvale. “It’s all about legal claims Rob”, Akthar explains “For instance if you’d been a passenger in a bus or car accident, or say you tripped over loose paving stones etc., we would, along with associated solicitors, fight for your claim for compensation. No expense for any advice we give, pay nothing if you win, nothing if you lose.” Claiming to be the biggest accident claims company in South Yorkshire, partner Sajid Rasul went on to explain, that even if the accident took place three years ago, they would still be able to give advice on the right course of action to take. “ We also deal with medical negligence cases, that are taken on by our highly specialised solicitors.” With wheelchair access at the rear of the building, Sajid went onto say that for them multicultural languages were no barrier. “ We both speak good Urdu and can cater for Arabic and Somali speaking people as well as English of course.” enquiring about Patois, Akhtar grinned, before telling me he did watch Ali G, and could quite possibly manage some sort of impersonation.
“We do replacement Taxi Plated vehicles, in the event private hire drivers have accidents.” Sajid went onto inform me. “ While you wait for repairs on your own plated vehicle, we arrange recovery; appoint approved repairers and arrange a replacement plated vehicle for you.”
By the time I left I guessed SMR Accident and Claims might well be a positive service to many in our community, but if in doubt, check it out.

The Guiding Star Islamic Book Shop
Opened just prior to Christmas 2001 proprietor Mustapha Karem, bids welcome to all that enter this Islamic shop that’s aroma of Ittar oils and many incense opens the way to a truly peaceful side of this culture, religion and way of life.
A colourful array of Islamic hats, videos and books, blend with the aromatic smells of real perfumes, All imported from the USA, 100% non-alcohol based Coca cabana, Egyptian Musk, Opium, Armarni, Eternity, Poco Rabanne is to name just a few, pointed out Mustapha. Also to name a few, I quickly noted books titled The Duties of an Iman; Dajjal the Antichrist; The Beauty of Islamic Dress; The history of Mohamed. An array of videos from Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) and Hamza Usef, I noted one video called Peace in our troubled times. Apt, I thought.
I do Videos at £1.50 for two days rental, explained Mustapha casually. I caught sight of customers glancing through the many colourful ladies’ hijabs hanging up nearby, hats and men’s Islamic wear, everyday accessories, cotton buds, bin liners, window washers, wipers, clothes lines, electrical accessories and incense sticks. This is Rob Smith reporting from inside Al Sunna Wal Jamat Al Noor. The Guiding Star Bookshop, definitely helping to transform the face of the community we live in and well worth paying a visit.
