Small grants fund for health …
It could be you!!

Chetna has a grants fund for community and voluntary groups who are wanting a small amount of money to do health activities. The maximum that can be applied for is £500.This could be a health day, or training for local people on health, or if you are part of a support group and want money to raise awareness around a specific health issue.

Below are two examples of how a small amount of money can reap huge health benefits.
Isilda Lang from St James mother and toddler group received monies to take a group of single parents, refugee's fathers and children to Scarborough and the sea life centre.
Isilda said "people thoroughly enjoyed it, and it gave some people the opportunity to go to the seaside which they have never done before, it help to reduce isolation and feel better and everyone really appreciated it"

Alison Frost who works with the Green fingers gardening group, applied for monies for a gardener, driver and refreshments. Alison said, "The form was user friendly and extremely simple to complete with guidelines, which were easy to follow. The money although modest was essential to keep the group going".

When asked what the health benefits were? Alison replied, "The group is for isolated people who live in residential homes and have severe mental health problems and chronic physical problems.
The health benefits are that is gives people with mental health problems an opportunity to get regular exercise and be out in the fresh air. It also improves socialising, self esteem and gives them an opportunity to learn new skills and see tangible results when vegetable and flowers planted grow".
