Community Development and Health Course, A Success!!

The 14-week ‘Introduction to Community Development and Health’ course has now come to an end. The course was undertaken by 8 people who live or work in the area. The course is accredited by Open College Network and was funded by Burngreave New Deal for Communities.

Paulette Munroe said, “Doing the course has given me personal confidence to stand up in front of a group and do a presentation. By doing a project, and getting information on diabetes it helped raise my awareness about the problems faced by the community”

Monica Wisdom said, “It has been really good meeting new people and working together as a group from diverse communities”

The whole group said, “It was good to share experiences, information and knowledge around health”

The group participants are keen to put into practice what they have learnt and are working together to organise a women and children’s health and fun day on Wednesday 7 August 2002 at Verdon Recreation Centre 12pm – 4pm.
