Holistic Regeneration
By Lynda Kenyon
Have you taken a look outside lately? I’m sure you have and maybe you are impressed by the changes to the external appearance of our streets and homes but maybe, like us, some of you are wondering how deep the facelift goes. A facelift never improved anybody’s underlying health or structure.
Many communities have a long relationship with traditional medicines, which may incorporate herbal or other non-standard treatments. We at PACT (Pitsmoor Alternative and Complementary Therapists) embrace the variety of therapeutic options this presents. PACT is a new organisation whose aim is to make CAMs (Complementary and Alternative Medicines) more accessible and affordable to the people of our community. We take our inspiration from the air of change within Burngreave. There is a clear message that local people want more choice in their health care than is currently available under the NHS. This message is echoed by the recent House of Lords Select Committee Report on Alternative and Complementary Medicines, which decisively recommends that complementary medicines be made much more available within mainstream health provision.
We are committed to a holistic vision of change and growth in Burngreave. We feel that by working to make complementary therapies more widely available we can contribute towards nurturing the spirit of change as well as the body. We intend to create quiet healing spaces for our services and training and to take them into areas of the community where health care needs are poorly met. We are focusing on empowering individuals to achieve their health care objectives. If you would like to know more please contact Lynda Kenyon on 243 9147 or Sam Galbraith on 2200938.
