New Life for Recreation Centre

After concerns published in recent editions of the Messenger, Community Recreation and Verdon Street Recreation Centre management committee have finally announced temporary changes in staffing and management.
Paul Steel and Leroy Betts will be taking control of the day-to-day running of the centre until the end of March when a new staff team will be appointed. Co-opted management members also agreed to pursue the idea of a joint caretaker to control the opening, closing and maintenance of both the Furnival and recreation building. Creating a job for someone in the community
Members also agreed that the centre has vast potential to extend, and an opportunity to house new community projects like Burngreave Sports Network and to work along side the Furnival, and many other groups now forming around the Recreation centre.
There will be an Open Day on 28th March at Verdon St Recreation centre between 12pm and 6pm Come along and find out what’s happening now and get involved in planning the future.
12-2pm Health & Care in the community
2-4pm Senior Citizens
4-6pm Children & Young People
