Pitsmoor Credit Union held its Annual General meeting on Saturday April 20th. A well attended meeting saw the election of 5 new people to the Unions various governing boards, greatly strengthening its position, and enabling it to look to the future with confidence.
The Credit Union is now in a much stronger position than a year ago, reserves have been increased, membership is stable and the influx of new volunteers means there will be enough people to ensure the work can be continued. For much of the past year volunteers have been stretched to the limit holding the Union together, now they should have the time to give greater attention to future planning, particularly pursuing New Deal monies that will enable them to open shop front premises and employ workers.
The meeting also marked the resignation of two of the leading stalwarts of the Union – Chair, Phil Sadler, and Secretary Anne Acaster. Phil has been a leading light in the Credit Union movement throughout Sheffield, and was one of the founders of the Pitsmoor Union. All those who have worked with him over the last 6 years will miss the great commitment he has shown, though he can be proud that he has left it in such a healthy state. A new Chair and Secretary will be elected by the Board of Directors at their inaugural meeting.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer in any capacity to work for the Union, or wishes to become a member should ring their office, on 242 2552.
Collection times for the Credit Union are Thursday 11-12 Christ Church
Community Rooms; Friday 12.30 - 1.30 Furnival.
